What is an online English lesson?
An online English lesson is a one-to-one class between you and a teacher — usually over Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You can take lessons from anywhere, using your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
The teacher shares the screen, gives explanations, practises speaking with you, helps with pronunciation or writing, and guides your learning.
It’s just like a personal lesson — but online.
The lesson might be one-to-one, or with a ‘study buddy’ friend（勉強仲間や学習パートナー）, or a group, depending what kind of class you have chosen.
What are the lessons like at BEP?
All lessons at BEP are custom-made. That means they’re designed just for you — your level, your interests, your goals.
We don’t use a fixed textbook unless you request one. Instead, we work with you to create lessons that fit your life. Want to study grammar? Great. Want to focus on pronunciation or job interview skills? Also great.
Where do people take online lessons?
This is one of the most common questions — and the answer is: wherever you feel comfortable.
Most students take lessons in their living room or dining room at home. Some use a home office. Others take lessons on a break at work, and one of our students in the Japan Self-Defense Forces used to join lessons from the locker room at his base!
As long as you have a good internet connection and a little privacy, almost anywhere is OK.
What does a lesson look like?
Usually:
- You join the Zoom or Teams link at the scheduled time
- The teacher greets you and checks your goals for the day
- We work through the lesson together (you’ll speak, listen, ask questions, practise)
- The teacher may share documents, correct mistakes, give homework, or help with writing
- You finish the lesson with clear next steps
Everything is relaxed but focused — and you’re always free to ask questions.
What does a model lesson include?
We recommend starting with a free 30-minute model lesson.
This is a great, low-stress way to try out the platform and meet the teacher. It helps both sides understand how the lessons should work, and it gives you a sense of the BEP approach: flexible, professional, and focused on you.
There’s no obligation to book after the trial — just try it and see if it feels right.
What do I need to take lessons?
Very little:
- A device (laptop, tablet, or phone)
- A quiet space with internet
- Zoom or Microsoft Teams installed
- Optional: notebook, headset, or printouts
That’s it. No textbooks. No special software. No long forms.
What if I feel nervous or unsure?
That’s totally normal. Many first-time students feel nervous about speaking in English — or about using Zoom. But most people say that after the first 10 minutes, they forget the screen and just focus on the conversation.
You don’t need perfect English. You don’t need to be confident. That’s what lessons are for.

オンライン英会話レッスンって何？
オンライン英会話レッスンとは、ZoomやMicrosoft Teamsなどを使って行う、講師との1対1のレッスンです。
自宅や職場など、インターネット環境さえあれば、どこからでも参加できます。
講師は画面を共有したり、発音やライティングのサポートをしたり、あなたの学習を丁寧にリードします。
まさに「自分だけのレッスン」を、オンラインで受けられるのです。
レッスンは1対1だけでなく、**勉強仲間（study buddy）**や友人と一緒に受けることもできます。グループでの受講も可能です。
BEPのレッスンはどんな感じ？
BEPでは、すべてのレッスンがカスタムメイドです。
あなたのレベル・興味・目標に合わせて、ひとつひとつ丁寧に作っています。
特定の教科書は使いません（希望があれば使用可能）。
文法を集中して学びたい？ 発音を強化したい？ 面接の練習をしたい？ どれでもOKです。
事前準備は不要です。講師がステップ・バイ・ステップでサポートします。
みんなどこでレッスンを受けてるの？
「どこでレッスンを受ければいいの？」という質問、実はとても多いです。
答えはシンプル：自分がリラックスできる場所でOK！
多くの受講者は、自宅のリビングやダイニングでレッスンを受けています。
仕事の合間に、オフィスや自宅の書斎から参加する人も。
以前、自衛隊に所属する方がロッカールームから参加していたこともありました！
インターネット環境と少しのプライベート空間があれば、どこでも大丈夫です。
レッスンの流れは？
レッスンの典型的な流れはこんな感じです：
- 時間になったらZoomまたはTeamsのリンクにアクセス
- 講師があいさつ＆その日の目標を確認
- 一緒にレッスンに取り組む（会話・リスニング・質問・練習）
- 必要に応じて、資料共有・ミスの修正・宿題・ライティングサポートなど
- 最後に、次回までの目標を明確にして終了
全体的にリラックスした雰囲気で、でも集中して取り組めます。
わからないことがあれば、いつでも質問OKです。

完璧な英語なんて必要ありません。
